Registered in 1996 by an unknown breeder, 'Lakeside Sapphire Pleats' is a medium-sized hosta distinguished by its intensely blue-green, heavily textured foliage. The leaves are notably broad relative to their length, with a cordate base and flat margins, forming a dense, upright mound.

In the Garden

This cultivar reaches a mature spread of approximately 27 inches (68.6 cm) and a height of 12 inches (30.5 cm), making it suitable for mid-border positions or as a specimen in shaded beds. It performs best in partial to full shade, where its blue-green coloration remains most intense. The upright habit and substantial leaf size allow it to pair well with finer-textured shade perennials such as ferns or *Heuchera*. Its moderate growth rate and compact dimensions also make it appropriate for container culture in typical hosta-growing zones.
