Overview

Registered in 2003 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Emerald Necklace', 'Ivory Necklace' is a medium-sized hosta distinguished by its sharp contrast between a medium green leaf center and a narrow, creamy white margin. The ovate leaves, measuring 6 inches (15.2 cm) long and 5 inches (12.7 cm) wide, feature 7 to 9 vein pairs and a cordate base, with margins approximately 0.25 inches (0.6 cm) wide.

In the Garden

This cultivar forms a mound-like habit with a fast growth rate, reaching a mature size typical of medium hostas. It performs best in partial to full shade, where the variegation remains most stable, and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials. Its compact dimensions and vigorous growth make it suitable for border fronts or shaded rock gardens.

Care Notes

Water regularly to maintain even moisture, particularly during dry periods. Apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage; standard preventive measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
