Overview
Registered in 2010, *Hosta* 'Diamond Necklace' is a small-sized cultivar derived as a chimeral reversal of *H. 'Ivory Necklace'*. It is visually distinctive for its creamy white leaf centers bordered by dark green, flat margins, with occasional green dotting in the white zone.
In the Garden
'Diamond Necklace' forms a slow-growing, mound-like clump reaching 10 inches (25.4 cm) in height and 22 inches (55.9 cm) in diameter. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for hostas, and its small stature makes it well suited for rock gardens, troughs, or the front of shaded borders. Companion plants include small ferns, heucheras, or miniature epimediums.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during dry periods and apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so protective measures may be necessary in gardens where these pests are prevalent.
