Overview

Registered in 2008, *Hosta* 'Quiet Waters' is a medium-sized cultivar of unknown pollen parentage, with *H.* 'Aurora Borealis' as the pod parent. Its most distinctive feature is a unique second margin of medium green, 0.13 to 0.38 in. (0.3 to 1 cm) wide, which appears inside the primary white margin; both the outer green margin and the leaf center exhibit celadon streaking.

In the Garden

This cultivar reaches 13 in. (33 cm) in height and 26 in. (66 cm) in diameter at maturity, with an upright, slow-growing habit. It performs best in partial to dappled shade, typical for hostas, and its medium green leaves with heavily rippled white margins provide textural contrast when paired with fine-leaved perennials such as ferns or *Heuchera*. Its moderate size suits the middle of a shaded border or a container in a sheltered location.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, applying a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, protection from deer and slugs may be necessary in garden settings.
