Overview
Registered in 2010 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Pathfinder', 'Hypnosis' is a medium-sized cultivar distinguished by its blue-green leaves with wide white margins that exhibit green speckling. This chimeral reversal produces a misted appearance along the leaf edge, with a glaucous bloom on the undersides.
In the Garden
'Hypnosis' forms a slow-growing, mound-like clump reaching 33 inches (83.8 cm) in diameter and 16 inches (40.6 cm) in height. Its ovate, lightly cupped leaves with flat margins tolerate typical shade conditions, though the white margins may benefit from some morning light to maintain contrast. This cultivar pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials in woodland or border settings.
Care Notes
Water regularly during dry periods, especially in the first growing season. Apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. While typical hosta-growing zones apply, slug and deer damage may occur; monitor leaf margins for feeding.
