Overview
Registered in 2003, *Hosta* 'Filigree Necklace' is a small hybrid between *H.* 'Filagree' and *H.* 'Tokudama'. It is visually distinctive for its intensely blue-green leaves with creamy white, unstable streaking along slightly rippled margins, combined with heavy leaf substance and a compact mound-like habit.
In the Garden
This small hosta forms a dense mound 8 inches (20.3 cm) tall and 12 inches (30.5 cm) in diameter, with a fast growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, as typical for blue-leaved cultivars, where the intense blue color is best preserved. Its small size and heavy substance make it suitable for rock gardens, troughs, or the front of shaded borders, paired with fine-textured companions such as ferns or small woodland perennials.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain consistent moisture, especially during dry periods; apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. The heavy substance provides moderate slug resistance, but standard slug control measures are advisable in damp conditions.
