Overview

Registered in 2005 by D. Van Eechaute as a sport of *Hosta* 'Hadspen Blue', this small Tardiana Group cultivar displays a distinctive H. 'Striptease' pattern: medium blue-green leaves edged with an irregular white line, bordered by a darker blue-green margin. The ovate, lightly wavy leaves measure 4.4 inches (11.2 cm) long by 2.8 inches (7.1 cm) wide, with eight pairs of veins and a glaucous bloom on both surfaces.

In the Garden

Reaching a mature mound 7.7 inches (19.6 cm) tall and 13 inches (33.0 cm) in diameter, 'Extreme' is suited to the front of borders, rock gardens, or container culture. It performs best in partial to full shade, where the blue-green leaf centers and white margins remain most distinct. The pale purple to blue scapes rise 7.8 to 9.2 inches (19.8 to 23.4 cm) above the foliage in midsummer.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, particularly in containers. Apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Slugs and deer may damage foliage; monitor and manage as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
