Overview

Registered in 2014 by an unknown breeder, *Hosta* 'Cosmic Eye Candy' is a large, mound-forming cultivar derived from a cross between *H.* 'Frosted Morning' and *H.* 'Blue Belly'. Its most distinctive visual features are the blue-green leaf centers with white margins, combined with intricate streaking in shades of green, yellow, and creamy white, plus fine green speckling across the leaf surface.

In the Garden

This cultivar reaches approximately 32 inches (81.3 cm) in diameter and 16 inches (40.6 cm) in height, forming a dense, rounded mound with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of hosta-growing zones, and its large, heavily textured leaves make it a suitable specimen or accent plant in woodland borders and shade gardens. The 28- to 32-inch (71.1–81.3 cm) scapes bear pale lavender flowers in midsummer.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, slug and deer damage may occur; monitor and manage as needed.
