Overview

Originating as a sport of *Hosta* 'Frost Giant' and registered in 2014, 'Best in Town' is a large, mound-forming cultivar distinguished by its blue-green leaves with gold margins and prominent yellow and blue-green streaking along flat leaf edges. The leaves exhibit a glaucous bloom on both surfaces and are broadly ovate with cordate bases, moderately folded, lightly wavy, and lightly corrugated.

In the Garden

Reaching approximately 44 inches (112 cm) in diameter and 23 inches (58 cm) in height, 'Best in Town' forms a substantial mound suited to partial to full shade in typical hosta-growing zones. Its large, textured leaves provide strong contrast when paired with finer-textured shade perennials such as ferns or astilbes. The plant's streaked scapes, reaching 24 to 29 inches (61 to 74 cm), bear very fertile flowers.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with many large-leaved hostas, slug and deer damage may occur and should be managed through cultural or physical controls.
