Overview
Registered in 2013, 'Cosmic Desire' is a medium-sized hosta cultivar bred from the pod parent *H.* 'Cosmic Lace' and the pollen parent (*H.* 'Fudge Ripple' × *H.* 'Cosmic Hippy'). It is visually distinctive for its blue-green leaves with white margins that display variable streaking in shades of medium blue-green, intensely blue-green, greenish yellow, golden yellow, and greenish white, with slightly rippled edges.
In the Garden
This cultivar forms a mound-like habit reaching 38 inches (96.5 cm) in diameter and 19 inches (48.3 cm) in height, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, as is typical for blue-green hostas, and is suitable for borders, woodland gardens, or as a specimen plant. Its medium size and variegated foliage pair well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain even soil moisture, particularly during dry periods. Apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. The leaves may be susceptible to slug damage, and deer browsing is possible in typical hosta-growing zones.
