Overview
Registered in 2010, 'Cosmic Lace' is a medium-sized hosta cultivar resulting from a cross between *Hosta* 'Fudge Ripple' and *Hosta* 'Volley Ball Fame'. This cultivar is visually distinctive for its ovate, moderately flat leaves that are light green with a white margin, further marked by light green streaking and greenish yellow to greenish white speckling within the leaf blade.
In the Garden
'Cosmic Lace' forms a mound-like clump reaching 19 inches (48.3 cm) in height and 38 inches (96.5 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, as is typical for most hostas, and its medium size makes it suitable for mid-border positions or as a specimen plant in shade gardens. The light green foliage with white margins pairs well with darker-leaved perennials such as ferns or heucheras.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain consistent soil moisture, particularly during dry periods. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, slug and deer damage may occur and should be managed through appropriate control measures.
