Overview
Registered in 2010, *Hosta* 'Chimney Rock' is a medium-sized cultivar of complex parentage, derived from a cross between a *H. 'Rosedale Shady Lady'* hybrid and a seedling of *H. 'Cosmic Hippie'*. Its most distinctive feature is the combination of streaked dark green leaf centers with margins that transition from greenish yellow to pure white, set on a nearly round, moderately corrugated blade.
In the Garden
'Chimney Rock' forms an upright clump reaching 20 inches (50.8 cm) in height and 42 inches (106.7 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, where the white margins remain most stable, and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials. Its upright habit and substantial leaf size make it suitable as a specimen or in the middle of a mixed border.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, applying a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring. Standard slug and deer precautions are advisable, as with most hostas.
