Overview

Registered in 2000, *Hosta* 'Tutti-frutti' is a medium-sized cultivar resulting from a cross between *H. 'Sea Prize'* (pod parent) and *H. 'Maekawa'* (pollen parent). It is visually distinctive for its blue-green leaves with creamy white, light green-streaked margins that are slightly rippled, and for its upright, slow-growing habit.

In the Garden

This hosta forms a compact clump reaching approximately 15 inches (38.1 cm) in diameter and 13 inches (33.0 cm) in height, making it suitable for the middle of a border or as an edging plant. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of hosta-growing zones, and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials. Its moderate size and slow growth rate also make it appropriate for container cultivation.

Care Notes

Water regularly to maintain consistent soil moisture, particularly during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
