Overview
Registered in 2011 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Well Shaked', 'Reverend Mac' is a medium-sized hosta distinguished by its blue-green foliage and notably fast growth rate. The leaves are broadly ovate with cordate bases, lightly corrugated texture, and dull surfaces on both sides, forming a compact mound.
In the Garden
'Reverend Mac' performs best in partial to full shade, typical for blue-leaved hostas, where its leaf color remains truest. At maturity, plants reach approximately 13.6 inches (34.5 cm) in height and spread to 24 inches (61.0 cm) in diameter, making it suitable for mid-border positions or as a groundcover in woodland gardens. Its fast growth allows it to fill space quickly alongside ferns, heucheras, or other shade-tolerant perennials.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, applying a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Reverend Mac' may require protection from slugs and deer in garden settings.
