Overview
Registered in 2011, *Hosta* 'Age of Aquarius' is a medium-sized cultivar of unknown pollen parentage, with *H.* 'Liberty' as the pod parent. The plant is visually distinctive for its nearly round, cupped leaves of medium blue-green with flat margins, a dull surface on both sides, and notably good substance.
In the Garden
'Age of Aquarius' forms a moderate-growing, mound-like clump reaching 21 inches (53.3 cm) in diameter and 16 inches (40.6 cm) in height. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for blue-leaved hostas, where the leaf color remains truest. The cupped, substantial leaves pair well with ferns, astilbes, and other shade perennials; its medium size suits border fronts or woodland garden placements.
Care Notes
Water regularly during dry periods, particularly in the first growing season to establish a deep root system. Fertilize in early spring as shoots emerge, and monitor for slug damage on the substantial leaves, though the good substance offers some resistance.
