Overview

Registered in 1999, 'Regal Skies' is a sport of *Hosta* 'Gold Regal' that produces large, upright clumps of intensely blue-green foliage. The leaves are distinguished by a heavy glaucous bloom on both surfaces, cordate bases, and sixteen pairs of veins.

In the Garden

This large cultivar reaches 24 inches (61.0 cm) in diameter and 30 inches (76.2 cm) in height, with leaf blades 13 inches (33.0 cm) long and 9 inches (22.9 cm) wide. It performs best in partial to full shade, where the blue-green coloration is most pronounced. The upright habit and substantial leaf size make it suitable as a specimen or in mixed shade borders, paired with ferns or other hostas of contrasting foliage color.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season; apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Slugs may damage foliage, particularly in damp conditions, and deer may browse the leaves.
