Overview

A sport of *Hosta* 'Radiant Edger', 'Radiant Star' was registered in 2007. This small cultivar is distinguished by its dark green leaf centers and wide, greenish-yellow margins, which are both more pronounced than those of its parent.

In the Garden

'Radiant Star' forms a compact, mound-like clump reaching 7 inches (17.8 cm) in height and 12 inches (30.5 cm) in diameter. Its moderate growth rate and small size make it suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or container culture. It performs best in partial to full shade, where its variegation remains stable, and pairs well with other small hostas, ferns, or shade-tolerant perennials.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitor and manage accordingly in typical hosta-growing zones.
