Overview
Registered in 2007 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Pineapple Juice', 'Pineapple Ripple' is a small-sized cultivar distinguished by its lance-shaped, blue-green leaves with heavily rippled, creamy yellow margins. The leaf blade is dull on the upper surface and bears a glaucous bloom beneath, with seven vein pairs per leaf.
In the Garden
This cultivar forms a moderate-growing, mound-like clump reaching 12 inches (30.5 cm) in height and 30 inches (76.2 cm) in diameter. It performs best in partial to full shade, as is typical for hostas, and is well suited to the front of borders, rock gardens, or container plantings due to its compact size. Companion plants such as ferns, heucheras, or small woodland perennials complement its restrained habit.
Care Notes
Water regularly during dry periods, applying at soil level to avoid wetting the foliage. Fertilize in early spring with a balanced, slow-release formulation. As with most hostas, slug and deer damage may occur; monitoring and appropriate barriers are recommended in areas where these pests are prevalent.
