Overview
Registered in 1978 by P. Aden, this small hosta cultivar resulted from a self-cross of *Hosta* 'Blue Cadet'. It is distinguished by its green leaves edged in gold, forming a compact, low mound.
In the Garden
Reaching approximately 7 inches (17.8 cm) in height and 11 inches (27.9 cm) in diameter, 'Gold Edger' is suited for the front of borders, rock gardens, or as an edging plant. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of most hostas. Its small size makes it suitable for container cultivation. Companion plants could include small ferns or shade-tolerant groundcovers.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, particularly during dry periods. Apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Slugs and deer may cause damage; monitor and manage as needed.
