Overview
Registered in 1990 by M. Zilis, *Hosta* 'Radiant Edger' is a small-sized sport of *Hosta* 'Gold Edger'. It is visually distinguished by its medium green leaves with chartreuse to gold margins, a compact mound habit, and a mature spread of approximately 30 inches (76.2 cm) with a height of 12 inches (30.5 cm).
In the Garden
This cultivar is best suited to partial to full shade, where its gold-edged foliage brightens the foreground of borders, rock gardens, or woodland paths. Its small stature and dense, rounded form make it an effective edging plant along walkways or in mixed container plantings. Companion plants such as ferns, *Heuchera*, or small *Carex* complement its tidy habit without competing for space.
Care Notes
Plant in well-drained, humus-rich soil and water regularly during dry periods; apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
