H. ‘People's Choice’

Overview

Registered in 1998, 'People's Choice' is a giant hosta cultivar derived from a hybrid of *Hosta* 'Placemat'. It is distinguished by its very large, heavily textured blue-green leaves with a prominent glaucous bloom on the upper surface, forming a substantial upright mound.

In the Garden

'People's Choice' reaches a mature spread of 48 inches (121.9 cm) and a height of 30 inches (76.2 cm), with a fast growth rate. It is suitable for partial to full shade in typical hosta-growing zones, where its blue-green foliage provides a strong structural presence in the border or as a specimen plant. Its large size makes it appropriate for the back of a shade bed or as a focal point, and it pairs well with ferns and other shade-tolerant perennials.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most large-leaved hostas, it may be susceptible to slug damage; monitor and manage as needed.
