Overview
Registered in 2001 by V. Wade, this medium-sized cultivar is distinguished by its exceptionally glossy, bright green leaves with medium green flat margins. The foliage is broadly ovate with rounded bases, moderately corrugated, and exhibits a very shiny surface on both the upper and lower sides, with eight prominent vein pairs underneath.

'Hosta 'Patent Leather' forms a dense, mound-like clump reaching 14 inches (35.6 cm) in height and 29 inches (73.7 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for variegated hostas, and pairs well with ferns, astilbes, and other shade perennials.
