Overview

A sport of *Hosta* 'Hadspen Blue' registered in 2000, 'Nobility' is a small cultivar distinguished by its blue-green leaves with creamy white margins and a glaucous bloom on both surfaces. The rounded, flat-margined leaves measure 5 inches (12.7 cm) long by 3 inches (7.6 cm) wide, with 10 to 12 vein pairs, and form a compact mound 9 inches (22.9 cm) high and 18 inches (45.7 cm) in diameter.

In the Garden

'Nobility' is suitable for shaded to partially shaded sites in typical hosta-growing zones, where its small stature and blue-green foliage with white variegation provide subtle contrast. At maturity, the plant forms a low, dense mound ideal for the front of borders, rock gardens, or container plantings. Companion plants such as ferns, heucheras, or small woodland perennials complement its scale and coloration.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as growth emerges. While generally low-maintenance, 'Nobility' may require protection from slugs and deer in garden settings.
