Overview
Registered in 1999, *Hosta* 'My Marianne' is a small-sized cultivar originating from a cross between *H. 'Amy Aden'* and *H. 'Filagree'*. It is visually distinguished by its blue-green leaves with creamy white margins, a glaucous bloom on the leaf undersides, and a compact, mound-like habit.
In the Garden
'My Marianne' reaches 13 inches (33.0 cm) in height and spreads to 23 inches (58.4 cm) in diameter, forming a dense mound suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or container plantings. It performs best in partial to full shade, where its leaf coloration remains true, and pairs well with other small hostas, ferns, or shade-tolerant perennials such as *Heuchera* or *Tiarella*. Its moderate growth rate and small stature make it an excellent choice for edging or small-space gardens.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug damage and deer browsing; monitor regularly and use barriers or repellents as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
