Overview

Registered in 1999 as a hybrid of *Hosta* 'On Stage', 'Millennium Magic' is a large, mound-forming cultivar distinguished by its blue-green leaves with golden yellow margins and a glaucous bloom on the undersides. The leaves are cordate at the base, dull on the upper surface, and measure up to 12 inches (30.5 cm) long by 8.5 inches (21.6 cm) wide, with 13 pairs of veins.

In the Garden

'Millennium Magic' reaches a mature spread of approximately 37 inches (94.0 cm) in diameter and a height of 20 inches (50.8 cm), with a slow growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, as is typical for blue-leaved hostas, and its large, variegated foliage provides strong textural contrast when planted near fine-textured perennials such as ferns or *Heuchera*. The greenish yellow scapes, 25 to 27 inches (63.5 to 68.6 cm) tall, bear flowers in midsummer.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Standard slug and deer precautions are recommended for typical hosta-growing zones.
