Hosta ‘Midnight Ride’ is a registered cultivar () .

Year registered2004
Section classIV-1

Overview

A sport of *Hosta* 'Paul Revere' registered in 2004, 'Midnight Ride' is a small hosta distinguished by its blue-green foliage with dark green, flat margins and a glaucous bloom on the leaf undersides. The ovate, lightly wavy and cupped leaves measure 6 inches (15.2 cm) long by 4.5 inches (11.4 cm) wide, with 10 to 12 vein pairs, and the plant may be a tetraploid.

In the Garden

'Midnight Ride' forms a compact, mound-like clump suitable for partial to full shade in typical hosta-growing zones. At maturity, the plant reaches small size class dimensions, with scapes rising 24 to 36 inches (61.0 to 91.4 cm) above the foliage. Its modest stature makes it appropriate for rock gardens, container plantings, or the front of shaded borders, where it pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other small shade perennials.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, applying a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, monitor for slug and deer damage, particularly on the glaucous leaf surfaces.
