Registered in 1998, 'Merry Sunshine' is a medium-sized hosta cultivar derived from a cross between *Hosta* 'Fascination' (pod parent) and *Hosta hypoleuca* (pollen parent). The plant is visually distinctive for its upright, slow-growing habit and medium green leaves with broad, creamy white margins that are slightly rippled.

'Merry Sunshine' reaches a mature size of 13 inches (33.0 cm) in height and 22 inches (55.9 cm) in diameter, making it suitable for mid-border positions or as a specimen in partial shade. Its upright form and medium green leaves with white margins pair well with ferns, heucheras, or other shade-tolerant perennials that complement its subdued coloration. The plant is not typically recommended for container cultivation due to its medium size class.
