Registered in 2005, 'Lakeside Whispering Leaves' is a giant hosta cultivar derived from an unnamed seedling pollinated by *H. 'Lakeside Ripples'*. It is visually distinctive for its nearly round, blue-green leaves with slightly rippled margins and a moderately flat profile, reaching 11 inches in length and 12 inches in width with 17 vein pairs.

In the Garden

This cultivar forms a large, fast-growing mound 28 inches high and 64 inches in diameter, making it suitable for mid-border or specimen placement in partial to full shade. Its substantial blue-green foliage provides strong contrast when paired with fine-textured perennials such as ferns or astilbes. Due to its giant size, it is not recommended for container cultivation.

Care Notes

Water regularly during dry periods to maintain consistent soil moisture, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. While typical hosta-growing zones are suitable, standard precautions against slugs and deer are advised, particularly in shaded, moist sites.
