Overview

Registered in 1998 by an unknown breeder, *Hosta* 'Lakeside Shore Master' is a large, fast-growing cultivar distinguished by its intensely blue-green leaf margins contrasting with a light green leaf center. The leaves are cordate-based, dull above and slightly shiny beneath, measuring 10 inches (25.4 cm) long and 8.5 inches (21.6 cm) wide, with 12 vein pairs and flat margins 2.5 inches (6.4 cm) wide.

In the Garden

This cultivar forms a mound-like clump reaching 12 inches (30.5 cm) in height and 26 inches (66.0 cm) in diameter, with scapes rising 18 to 22 inches (45.7 to 55.9 cm). It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for hostas, and pairs well with ferns, astilbes, and other shade-tolerant perennials. Its large size and fast growth rate make it suitable as a specimen or groundcover in woodland gardens.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Standard slug and deer deterrents are advisable, as the broad leaves are susceptible to damage.
