Year registered2000
Section classIII-5b

Overview

Registered in 2000, this medium-sized hosta arose as a hybrid of *Hosta* 'Lakeside Roy El Hybrid' and is distinguished by its blue-green leaves with wide, yellow, slightly rippled margins. The leaf blade measures 8 inches (20.3 cm) long by 6 inches (15.2 cm) wide, with 12 to 15 vein pairs, a cordate base, and a slightly shiny surface on both sides.

In the Garden

Plants reach 20 inches (50.8 cm) in height and 22 inches (55.9 cm) in diameter, with an upright growth habit suitable for mid-border positions or as a specimen in partial to full shade. The gold margins provide contrast against darker foliage companions such as ferns or *Heuchera* cultivars. Its medium size makes it appropriate for mixed shade borders or woodland gardens, though not for small containers.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during establishment and throughout the growing season; apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Slugs may damage the foliage, and deer will browse the plants in typical hosta-growing zones.
