Overview

A sport of *Hosta* 'Squire Rich' registered in 2000, 'Antoinette' is a medium-sized cultivar distinguished by its dark green leaves with golden yellow, slightly rippled margins. The foliage is notably very shiny on both surfaces, and the leaf base is cordate.

In the Garden

This cultivar forms a mound 20 inches (50.8 cm) tall and 24 inches (61.0 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for hostas, and its medium size makes it suitable for mid-border positions or as a specimen in shaded beds. The bright leaf margins provide contrast when paired with darker-leaved perennials such as ferns or heucheras.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like many hostas, 'Antoinette' may be susceptible to slug and deer damage, so appropriate management is advised in areas where these pests are prevalent.
