Overview

Registered in 2014 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Peek-a-boo Purple', 'Kinky Boots' is a small, fast-growing cultivar distinguished by its saturated burgundy petioles and scapes, which contrast sharply with medium blue-green leaves edged in creamy white. The leaves are ovate with tapered bases, deeply wavy and lightly twisted, bearing a glaucous bloom on both surfaces.

In the Garden

Mature plants form a mound 13 inches (33.0 cm) high and 34 inches (86.4 cm) in diameter, with scapes rising 30 to 32 inches (76.2 to 81.3 cm). The open, flared habit exposes the burgundy petioles, making this a suitable specimen for front-of-border positions or containers in typical hosta-growing zones. It pairs well with fine-textured shade perennials such as ferns or heucheras.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Standard slug and deer precautions are advisable for optimal leaf condition.
