Overview

Registered in 2012, *Hosta* 'Jimmy Blue Eyes' is a large, mound-forming cultivar of unknown parentage. It is visually distinctive for its broadly ovate, deeply corrugated leaves of medium blue-green, which retain their glaucous bloom and color well into autumn.

In the Garden

'Jimmy Blue Eyes' forms a substantial mound 23 inches (58.4 cm) tall and 38 inches (96.5 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It is best sited in partial to full shade, where its blue-green foliage and glaucous bloom develop fully. The large leaves and bold texture make it suitable as a specimen or in mass plantings with ferns, astilbes, or other shade perennials; its size precludes container use.

Care Notes

Water regularly to maintain even soil moisture, particularly during dry periods. Fertilize in early spring as growth emerges. The thick, corrugated leaves offer moderate resistance to slugs, though standard preventive measures are advisable in damp conditions.
