Overview
Registered in 2009 by an unknown originator, 'Je me souviens' is a large hosta distinguished by its heavily corrugated, blue-green leaves with wide creamy white margins that taper toward the leaf tip. The cultivar forms a dense, mound-like clump reaching 22 inches (55.9 cm) in height and 44 inches (111.8 cm) in diameter, with a medium to fast growth rate.
In the Garden
This cultivar performs well in partial to full shade typical of hosta-growing zones, though it tolerates more sun than many blue-leaved varieties. Its substantial size makes it suitable as a specimen plant in woodland borders or as a groundcover in larger shaded areas, where its heavily textured foliage provides contrast against finer-textured companions such as ferns or astilbes. The 28 to 32 inch (71.1 to 81.3 cm) green scapes bear lavender flowers in midsummer.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during establishment, and apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Standard slug and deer precautions are advisable, as both pests may damage the broad, tender leaves.
