Overview
Registered in 2009 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Edge of Night', 'Foxfire Night Skye' is a large, mound-forming cultivar distinguished by its broad, blue-green leaves with wide, creamy white, flat margins. The intense, dark leaf coloration inherited from its parent, combined with the high-contrast white border, creates a pronounced variegated effect.
In the Garden
'Foxfire Night Skye' forms a substantial clump reaching 48 inches (121.9 cm) in diameter and 24 inches (61.0 cm) in height, with a medium to fast growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for blue-leaved hostas, and its large, broadly ovate leaves with cordate bases provide strong textural presence. The green scapes, 18 to 24 inches (45.7 to 61.0 cm) tall, bear flowers in midsummer. This cultivar is well suited for shade borders, woodland gardens, or as a specimen plant in larger containers.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during dry periods, particularly in the first growing season. As with most hostas, slug and deer damage may occur; the glaucous bloom on the leaf undersides offers no significant resistance. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges.
