A sport of *Hosta* 'Frances Williams' registered in 1984 by M. Eisel and the American Hosta Society, 'Golden Sunburst' is a large hosta distinguished by its green leaves with yellow-gold margins. The leaf margins are described as yellow-green, creating a bold, contrasting variegation pattern typical of the Frances Williams lineage.

In the Garden

'Golden Sunburst' reaches a mature size of approximately 24 to 30 inches in height and 48 to 60 inches in spread, making it suitable as a specimen or background plant in shaded borders. It performs best in partial to full shade, where the gold margins remain vibrant without scorching, and pairs well with ferns, astilbes, and other shade-tolerant perennials. Its substantial clump size also makes it effective as a groundcover in woodland gardens.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like many large-leaved hostas, 'Golden Sunburst' is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
