Registered in 1991 by D. Stone and P. Ruh, 'Eireann' is a medium-sized hosta cultivar of unknown parentage. It is visually distinctive for its blue-green leaves with dark blue-green margins, a color contrast that persists through the growing season.

'Eireann' reaches a mature size of approximately 15 inches (38 cm) in height and 25 inches (63.5 cm) in diameter, making it suitable for mid-border positions in partial to full shade. Its blue-green foliage pairs well with golden or chartreuse-leaved companions such as *Hosta* 'Gold Standard' or *Carex elata* 'Aurea'. The plant's medium stature also suits it for woodland garden settings or as a specimen in shaded rock gardens.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during dry periods, particularly in the first growing season, and apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Eireann' is susceptible to slug and deer damage in typical hosta-growing zones; barrier methods or repellents may be necessary.
