Overview

Registered in 2005 by P. & J. Ruh, this small hosta forms a compact mound of blue-green leaves with heavily rippled, greenish yellow margins. The foliage is further distinguished by a glaucous bloom on the upper surface and a very shiny underside, with leaves that are lightly twisted, lightly folded, and moderately wavy.

In the Garden

Mature plants reach approximately 17 inches (43.2 cm) in diameter and 9.5 inches (24.1 cm) in height, with a moderate growth rate. This cultivar performs best in partial to full shade, as is typical for hostas, and its small size makes it well suited for rock gardens, container plantings, or the front of shaded borders. It pairs effectively with other small shade perennials such as ferns or heucheras.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, particularly during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, this cultivar is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so appropriate protective measures may be necessary.
