Overview
Registered in 2007, *Hosta* 'Country Mouse' is a miniature sport of *Hosta* 'Bill Dress's Blue', itself a sport of *Hosta* 'Blue Mouse Ears'. This cultivar is visually distinctive for its small, mound-like habit and blue-green leaves with pure white, flat margins of variable width, from 0.1 to 0.5 inches (0.3 to 1.3 cm).
In the Garden
'Hosta 'Country Mouse' reaches a mature size of 3 inches (7.6 cm) in height and 8 inches (20.3 cm) in diameter, forming a dense, moderate-growing mound. It is well suited for shade or partial shade and performs admirably in rock gardens, troughs, or as a front-of-border accent. Its diminutive stature makes it an excellent candidate for container cultivation, where its white-margined leaves provide contrast against darker foliage companions.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture and apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, protect from slugs and deer, which may damage the foliage.
