Overview
Registered in 2009 by the American Hosta Society through K. Walek, 'Clokei' is a miniature hosta of unknown parentage. It is visually distinctive for its small, dark green leaves with white margins and a shiny upper surface, combined with an unruly, mound-like growth habit.
In the Garden
This cultivar is suited for partial to full shade, typical of most hostas. Mature plants form a low mound approximately 3 inches (7.6 cm) tall and 1.25 inches (3.2 cm) wide, with leaf dimensions of 3 inches (7.6 cm) long and 1.25 inches (3.2 cm) wide. Its miniature size makes it an excellent choice for rock gardens, troughs, or containers, where it pairs well with other small shade perennials such as miniature ferns or dwarf tiarella.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, applying a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with many hostas, slug and deer damage may occur; monitor and manage as needed.
