Overview

Registered in 2010, *Hosta* 'Cosmic Fantasy' is a large, upright cultivar resulting from a cross between (*H.* 'Cosmic Hippie' × *H.* 'Beer Belly Blues') and *H.* 'Frosty Morning'. It is visually distinctive for its broadly ovate, green leaves with white margins that display streaked light green, greenish yellow to white variegation, accompanied by green speckling and slightly rippled, moderately wavy and corrugated surfaces.

'Cosmic Fantasy' forms an upright clump reaching approximately 42 inches (107 cm) in diameter and 20 inches (51 cm) in height, with a moderate growth rate. It is suitable for partial to full shade in typical hosta-growing zones, where its bold foliage provides textural contrast. The plant pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials; its large size makes it appropriate for mid-border or specimen placement rather than containers.

Care Notes

Water regularly to maintain consistent soil moisture, especially during dry periods. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Standard slug and deer precautions are advisable, as the broad leaves may be susceptible to browsing.
