Section classIV-7

Overview

Registered in 1999, this small hosta is a sport of *Hosta* 'Tea and Crumpets'. It is visually distinctive for its dark green leaves with creamy white margins and white streaking, a pattern that gives the cultivar its name.

In the Garden

'Hampagne and Caviar' reaches a mature size of 9 inches (22.9 cm) in height and 16 inches (40.6 cm) in diameter, with an upright growth habit and moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for hostas, and is well-suited to rock gardens, troughs, or the front of borders. Its small size also makes it an excellent candidate for container cultivation. Companion plants that appreciate similar conditions include ferns, heucheras, and small woodland perennials.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitor and manage as needed.
