Overview
Registered in 1999, *Hosta* 'Confused' is a sport of *H. 'Fortunei Hyacinthina'* distinguished by its small stature, green leaves with white margins, and a pronounced, heavily rippled leaf edge. The leaf blade is white streaked with green, bordered by a medium green, rippled margin 1.6 cm wide, giving the foliage a variegated and textured appearance.
In the Garden
This small hosta reaches 35.6 cm in height and 61.0 cm in diameter at maturity, with a stoloniferous, fast growth habit that allows it to spread moderately. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of most hostas, and its compact size makes it suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or container plantings. Companion plants include small ferns, *Heuchera*, or *Tiarella*.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Slugs and deer may damage foliage; monitor regularly and apply controls as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
