Overview

A sport of *Hosta* 'Gold Standard' registered in 1999, 'Caesar' is a small, mound-forming cultivar distinguished by its blue-green leaf margins and streaked medium green and white centers. The leaves measure 6.5 inches (16.5 cm) long and 3 inches (7.6 cm) wide, with 7 to 8 vein pairs and a rounded base.

In the Garden

'Caesar' reaches a mature diameter of 26 inches (66.0 cm) and a height of 10 inches (25.4 cm), forming a compact, moderate-growing mound. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of hosta-growing zones, and is well suited for rock gardens, front-of-border plantings, or container culture due to its small size. Companion plants such as ferns, heucheras, or small woodland perennials complement its blue-green and white variegation.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. 'Caesar' is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
