Overview
Registered in 2004 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Sultana', 'Border Favourite' is a small hosta distinguished by its dark green leaf centers and narrow, greenish-yellow margins. The rich contrast between center and margin is the cultivar's most notable visual characteristic.
In the Garden
'Border Favourite' forms a compact, mound-like clump reaching 7.5 inches (19.1 cm) in height and 12 inches (30.5 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It is well suited for the front of borders, rock gardens, or container plantings, and performs best in partial to full shade, as is typical for gold-margined hostas. Its small size and tidy habit make it an effective edging plant or companion for other small perennials such as heucheras or ferns.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, particularly during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, slug and deer damage may occur and should be managed through appropriate barriers or deterrents.
