Registered in 2004 by an unknown breeder, 'Lakeside Zesty Zeno' is a small hosta cultivar distinguished by its medium green leaves with narrow, pale yellow margins. The ovate leaves have a slightly shiny surface, flat margins, and a lightly wavy edge, with seven vein pairs per leaf.

In the Garden

This compact hosta reaches 13 inches (33 cm) in height and spreads to 30 inches (76 cm) in diameter, with an upright growth habit and moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for the genus, and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other small woodland perennials. Its modest size makes it suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or container plantings.

Care Notes

Water regularly during dry periods, particularly in the first growing season. Apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage and may require protection in areas where these pests are prevalent.
