Overview
Registered in 2005 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Fortunei Aureomarginata', 'Anne' is a small, tetraploid cultivar distinguished by its dark green leaves with wide, pale yellow margins. The leaves are nearly round, lightly cupped, and slightly shiny on the upper surface, with a dull underside and cordate base.
In the Garden
'Anne' forms a compact mound 13.75 inches (34.9 cm) tall and 29.5 inches (74.9 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of hosta-growing zones, and is well-suited for small gardens, rockeries, or container cultivation due to its small size. Companion plants include ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials that complement its green-and-gold foliage.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Slugs and deer may damage foliage; monitor regularly and use barriers or repellents as needed.
