Overview

A sport of *Hosta* 'Gold Regal' registered in 2015, 'Academy Lime Vuvuzela' is a large, fast-growing cultivar distinguished by its upright, vase-shaped habit and green leaves with greenish yellow margins. The plant reaches 28 inches (71.1 cm) in height and 48 inches (121.9 cm) in diameter, with ovate, lightly cupped leaves that are slightly shiny above and dull beneath, each bearing 14 to 15 pairs of veins.

In the Garden

'Academy Lime Vuvuzela' performs best in partial to full shade, typical for hostas of its size class. Its substantial 13-inch (33.0 cm) leaves and upright form make it suitable as a specimen or in the middle to back of a mixed border, where it can be paired with ferns, heucheras, or other shade-tolerant perennials. The tall scapes, reaching 32 to 41 inches (81.3 to 104.1 cm), bear profuse light green flowers that contribute to the plant's vase-shaped silhouette.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with many large-leaved hostas, slug and deer damage may occur and should be managed through appropriate barriers or deterrents.
