Registered in 2009 from unknown parentage, *Hosta* 'You Lie' is a medium-sized cultivar distinguished by its upright, fast-growing habit and variegated foliage. The leaves present dark green flat margins with slightly shiny surfaces above and below, measuring 8.5 inches long and 5.5 inches wide with 7 to 8 vein pairs and ovate, cordate bases.

In the Garden

Reaching 27 inches in height and 50 inches in diameter at maturity, 'You Lie' forms a substantial, upright clump suited to partial to full shade in typical hosta-growing zones. The dark green, burgundy-red scapes rise 40 to 42 inches above the foliage, making this cultivar effective as a specimen or in mixed shade borders alongside ferns, heucheras, or other medium hostas. Its fast growth rate allows it to fill space quickly.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, particularly during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Standard slug and deer precautions are advisable for this cultivar.
