Registered in 1988 by M. Zilis and T&Z Nursery, this medium-sized sport of *Hosta* 'Spinning Wheels' is distinguished by its blue-green leaves with wide, irregular gold margins that fade to creamy yellow in summer. The leaf blades are broadly ovate, measuring 7.25 inches (18.4 cm) long by 6 inches (15.2 cm) wide, with 15 pairs of veins.

In the Garden

Reaching 16 inches (40.6 cm) in height and spreading to 37 inches (94.0 cm) in diameter, 'Winning Edge' forms a dense, mounded clump suitable for partial to full shade in typical hosta-growing zones. Its bold foliage provides strong contrast when paired with ferns, heucheras, or fine-textured shade perennials, and the plant's medium size makes it appropriate for border fronts or woodland garden mid-layers. The scape height is recorded as 30 inches (76.2 cm), though later observations may vary.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during establishment and throughout the growing season, applying a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, this cultivar is susceptible to slug and deer damage, requiring protective measures in areas where these pests are prevalent.
